$5,000,000Five siblings become millionaires with Lotto 6/49
Montréal, May 1, 2024 — The April 24 Lotto 6/49 draw made one family very happy! Five siblings from the Outaouais region won the $5,000,000 Classic Jackpot. They are Francine, Jean-Marc, Monique, Rachel and Yves Desmarais. The family received their prize during a press conference at the Casino du Lac‑Leamy on May 1, 2024.
“An Outaouais family wins $5,000,000 in the Lotto 6/49 draw. It’s the second time the Classic Jackpot has been awarded in Québec this year. Let’s hope chance smiles on Quebecers again in tonight’s draw!”
Highlights
- The youngest sibling, Jean-Marc, created the family lottery group some twenty years ago.
- The day after the draw, he saw on the news that the winning ticket of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot had been sold in Gatineau. He checked the results and realized his brothers and sisters were the lucky winners.
- “Can you check this? I know I won, and it’s not just one dollar!” Jean-Marc told the retailer who checked his ticket.
- He then called his brothers and sisters, and the family gathered at Francine’s to celebrate their win.
- In terms of projects, Jean-Marc plans to continue working. Three of the five winners plan to move, including Jean-Marc, who will relocate to an apartment and leave his current house to his son.
- The winning ticket was purchased at the Galeries de Hull lottery kiosk (320 Boulevard Saint-Joseph, Gatineau). The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $50,000.
