Montréal, May 12, 2020 — Confined at home, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean resident Josée Marois won a Maxmillions prize with a Lotto Max ticket that she purchased on lotoquebec.com for the April 7 draw. This spring will forever be etched in her mind because, in addition to becoming a millionaire, she found out that she’s going to be a grandmother!

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto Max (with a ticket purchased online)
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Category: Maxmillions
  • Draw date: April 7, 2020
  • Winner’s place of residence: Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean

Highlights

  • Newly registered on lotoquebec.com, Josée pocketed $1,000,000 through Lotto Max thanks to a free-play ticket she won with her first online purchase.
  • She couldn’t believe it when a Loto-Québec employee called her to confirm that she’d won a Maxmillions prize.
  • As soon as the call was over, she rushed to check the selections on her ticket, which she purchased online via her lotoquebec.com account. Josée was really a millionaire!
  • “It’s surreal what just happened to me! That’s two amazing gifts that life is giving me since I also just found out that my daughter is pregnant,” said the winner, who will be a grandmother for the first time.

COVID-19: How to claim your prize

As part of the collective effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, and to protect the health of its customers and employees, Loto-Québec temporarily suspended in-person prize claims at its prize claim offices on March 18. Winners of prizes of $25,000 or more who have a physical lottery ticket are invited to contact Loto-Québec’s Customer Service team. All other prizes can be claimed by mail.

Please note: Owners of physical lottery tickets with an expiry date between March 17 and September 17, 2020, inclusively who’ve won a prize will have an additional six months to claim it. We advise them to hold on to their ticket(s); they’ll be able to claim their prize when things get back to normal. The payment terms for prizes won on lotoquebec.com remain the same.
