Montréal, October 29, 2019 — Montérégie couple Gilles and Nicole Dauplaise took home $1,000,000 in the September 18 Lotto 6/49 draw. The winning ticket had sat in their car for weeks before the couple got around to checking it and finding out they won.

Highlights

  • Gilles and Nicole make a great team, even when they’re playing the lottery. Gilles takes care of buying the tickets, while Nicole takes care of checking them post-draw.

  • Nicole usually lets the tickets pile up a bit before going to check them at a Loto-Québec retailer.

  • She got the surprise of her life when, a few weeks following the September 18 Lotto 6/49 draw, she was checking what would now be the winning ticket.

  • “My eyes saw $1,000,000 pop up on the monitor, but my head couldn’t quite believe it,” she confided.

  • When Nicole got back home, she was so shaken than Gilles thought she’d been in some sort of accident. He would never have guessed that they’d won such a hefty sum.

  • The couple says they intend to celebrate their windfall by purchasing an RV.
