$50,000,000Lotto Max: Montérégie man claims the 20th $2,500,000 prize

Montréal, May 21, 2019 – Abdul Jamil Rasooli, a Montérégie resident, claimed his $2,500,000 prize from the Lotto Max draw on May 3. He was the 20th and final person to claim his part of the $50-million jackpot that was won by several South Shore and Montréal residents through Group Play.

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto Max
  • Prize: $2,500,000 (one share of the $50,000,000)
  • Category: Jackpot
  • Draw date: May 3, 2019
  • Winner’s place of residence: Montérégie
  • Retailer: Lottery kiosk at the Champlain Mall managed by the Association québécoise de l’épilepsie, a not‑for‑profit organization (2151 Lapinière Boulevard, Brossard)
  • The retailer will receive a $500,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.

Highlights

  • Abdul heard on the news that a ticket bought in Montréal’s South Shore had won the Lotto Max jackpot.

  • Since he was outside of the province for work and didn’t have his ticket on him, he had to wait until he got back home to check his ticket on the Lotteries app.

  • When he realized that he was one of the 20 people who had won $2,500,000, Abdul was dumbstruck.

  • He plans to use the unexpected winnings to pay off his student loans and mortgage. He also intends to invest some of the money before taking the time to think about how to spend the rest.
