$1,000,000Longtime Lotto 6/49 player from Chaudière‑Appalaches wins guaranteed prize

Montréal, June 28, 2019 — Richard Campeau, a resident of Chaudière-Appalaches, recently got the surprise of his life when he went to check his Lotto 6/49 ticket. The latter won him the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize in the June 19 draw.

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto 6/49
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Category: Guaranteed prize
  • Draw date: June 19, 2019
  • Winner’s place of residence: Chaudières-Appalaches
  • Retailer: Couche-Tard (1035 Route 243, Melbourne)
  • The retailer will receive a $10,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec office in Québec City

Highlights

  • Richard Campeau has been playing Lotto 6/49 with the same numbers since 1985, except for one that he changes every year—the number representing his age. It was this very personal combination that won him $1,000,000.

  • It was when he saw the results pop up at a self-serve lottery checking station that Richard realized he’d just become a millionaire!

  • He was so in shock, he couldn’t believe it at first! Once he fully digested what was happening, the Chaudière-Appalaches resident immediately called his loves ones to tell them the good news.

  • The winner says he’ll take some time to think about what’s next for him, although he did mention that he plans to use the money to do a bit of travelling and finance a good chunk of his retirement.
