$7,000,000Lotto 6/49 turns an Outaouais couple into multimillionaires

Montréal, July 18, 2019 – Colette Laberge and Mario Lafrenière have always dreamt of winning the lottery. Still, the Gatineau couple found it hard to believe when the winning ticket in the July 10 Lotto 6/49 draw—which offered a $7 million jackpot—turned out to be theirs!

The winners celebrated their win with their loved ones today at a press conference at the Lac-Leamy complex.

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto 6/49
  • Prize: $7,000,000
  • Category: Jackpot
  • Draw date: July 10, 2019
  • Winners’ place of residence: Outaouais
  • Retailer: Uniprix Danyel Dessureault (214 Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau)
  • The retailer will receive a $70,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.
  • Claim centre: Casino du Lac-Leamy

Highlights

  • Colette Laberge was working at Uniprix when a customer mentioned that the winning ticket in the July 10 Lotto 6/49 draw had been purchased in Gatineau and that Loto‑Québec was on the hunt for the winner.
  • Realizing that she had bought a ticket for that draw, Colette checked it as her co‑workers looked on. Needless to say, the whole pharmacy heard when she screamed with joy!
  • Despite all the cheering and excitement around her, Colette still felt a twinge of doubt, so she asked one of her co‑workers to check her ticket using the lottery terminal. It confirmed that she had indeed won!
  • Next, Colette let her partner in life (and in lottery) Mario Lafrenière know that they had just become multimillionaires.
  • The winners have every intention of enjoying their prize, but they also plan on sharing the wealth. “We’ll definitely be spoiling our family,” said Colette.
