Montréal, January 11, 2019 – Capitale-Nationale residents Colette Hamel and Nancy Barrette pocketed a million dollars at the Lotto 6/49 draw of December 26.

  • Ms. Hamel and Ms. Barrette, co-workers and old friends, have been playing Lotto 6/49 together for 30 years.
  • Ms. Hamel learned of their good fortune when she had her ticket validated at the grocery store.
  • When the cashier told her she had a winning ticket, she said, “Do I need to put on my glasses?” It was worth it, indeed, because once she had her glasses on, she saw that she and her friend had won $1,000,000!
  • She immediately informed her friend, Ms. Barrette, who was skeptical before realizing it was actually true.
  • Ms. Barrette plans on taking an early retirement. Ms. Hamel quipped that she would start by replacing her old golf cart!
