Montréal, August 12, 2019 — Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean resident Daniel Lavoie got the surprise of his life when he went to check his ticket for the August 7 Lotto 6/49 draw and saw $3,500,000 pop up on-screen.

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto 6/49
  • Prize: $3,500,000
  • Category: Jackpot (shared)
  • Draw date: August 7, 2019
  • Winner’s place of residence: Saguenay‒Lac-Saint-Jean

  • The retailer will receive a $35,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.

Highlights

  • As soon as he realized he’d won half of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot, Daniel got excited and cried out to his spouse: “Come see, I’m a millionaire!”

  • He then went to the nearest retailer so they could validate his winning ticket.

  • It was through choosing random numbers that Daniel took home a cool $3.5 million.

  • His mother and spouse were with him when he came to claim his prize at the Loto-Québec office in Québec City.

  • Daniel says he’s already thinking about how he’ll spend the money, but will take some time to think about it before splurging. One thing is for sure: the lucky winner says he’ll be shopping for a new home, but plans to continue working because he likes to keep busy.

*There were two winning tickets in the August 7 Lotto 6/49 draw. The $7,000,000 jackpot was split two ways, with 50% going to Daniel Lavoie and 50% going to the other winner who resides in another province.
