LOTTERIES

  • The increase in revenues is partly due to sales of the new terminal-based Grande Vie lottery (+$38.6 M), launched in October 2016.
  • Instant lottery sales also grew (+$32.7 M), as did event betting sales (+$8.1 M).
  • In 2017, Loto‑Québec paid out more lottery prizes worth over $1 M than ever before. The Corporation paid out 107 such prizes and produced 132 millionaires.

CASINOS

  • Revenues at the four casinos rose between 5% and almost 11%.
  • The higher revenues were mainly due to a marked increase in patronage for all offerings. The total number of visits grew by 320,000 (+4.6%) compared to the same dates last year.

GAMING ESTABLISHMENTS

  • Revenues in this sector rose slightly due to good gaming hall performance, where patronage continued to grow. Gaming halls welcomed some 42,000 more visitors (+6.5%) than for the same period last year.
  • The reconfiguration of the video lottery terminal (VLT) network in bars and brasseries continues as planned. By the program’s halfway mark, over 500 VLTs had been withdrawn from the network.

ONLINE GAMING

  • Loto‑Québec’s online gaming site generated $82.9 M since the start of the fiscal year – all types of games combined –, representing a favourable variance of $24.6 M (+$42.1%).
  • The new, recently‑launched version of the portal, lotoquebec.com, makes navigation between products much easier.
