$1,000,000A Mauricie resident becomes a millionaire thanks to Lotto 6/49

Montréal, February 8, 2018 – Mauricie resident Patrice Poirier De Foy pocketed a million-dollar Guaranteed Prize at the January 20 draw of Lotto 6/49.

  • Lottery: Lotto 6/49
  • Prize won: $1,000,000
  • Category: Guaranteed Prize
  • Draw date: January 20, 2018
  • Winner’s place of residence: Mauricie
  • Retailer: Ultramar (103, boulevard Est, Maskinongé)
  • The retailer will receive a $10,000 prize, equal to 1% of the win.
  • Claim centre: Salon de jeux de Trois-Rivières

  • When it came time to pay for his purchases at the store, Mr. Poirier De Foy saw a Lotto 6/49 ticket in his wallet that he had forgotten. So, he had it validated.
  • From that moment forward, everything seemed to be in slow motion according to the winner.
  • He heard a different chime from the terminal and asked the cashier to validate the ticket a second time.
  • When he realized what was happening, he cried out “I’m a millionaire!”
  • He first announced the good news to his mother, then to his daughters.
  • The lucky winner, whose retirement is still a few years away, no longer needs to work by necessity.
  • He plans on purchasing a house big enough for his mother to move so he can take care of her.
