Montréal, April 20, 2018 – Laurentides resident Jean Lachance won a $100,000 grand prize at the April 11 draw of La Poule aux œufs d’or.
Summary
- Lottery: La Poule aux œufs d’or (La Poule aux oeufs d’or Plus ticket purchased on lotoquebec.com)
- Prize won: $100,000
- Category: play-at-home grand prize
- Draw date: April 11, 2018
- Winner’s place of residence: Laurentides
- Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s headquarters in Montréal
Highlights
- Last fall, Mr. Lachance signed up on Loto-Québec’s online gaming site and has been buying La Poule aux œufs d’or tickets, hoping to get lucky in anticipation of his retirement in a few years.
- However, he was not in the habit of checking his lottery results in his online account. This is why he learned the good news via a call from Loto-Québec. “You’re kidding me, right?” he said to the information technician at the other end of the line.
- After realizing that he had in fact won $100,000, he immediately made an appointment at Loto-Québec’s head office in Montreal to claim his prize.
- But first he decided to play a trick on his wife... “I told her I was coming down to see her at work because I had something to tell her,” he said.
- She looked worried, expecting some bad news. Mr. Lachance then showed her the image on his cell phone.
- After expecting the worst, she found out instead that they had won the jackpot!
- The very happy couple was all smiles when the cheque was handed to them the day after the call.
- First up in their plans: a trip to Austria!
