Gagnant à vie!Lifetime annuity for a young Outaouais resident

Montréal, April 21, 2017 – When Johnny Loranger-Demers won the grand prize at Gagnant à vie!, he became this lottery’s youngest grand prize winner ever. The Outaouais youth, who recently turned 19, will be collecting $1,000 a week for the rest of his life!

Summary

  • Lottery: Gagnant à vie!
  • Prize won: $1,000 a week for life
  • Draw date: April 7, 2017
  • Winners’ place of residence: Outaouais
  • Retailer: Dépanneur Lavigne (420 Boulevard Wilfrid-Lavigne, Gatineau)
  • The retailer will receive a prize of $6,750, the equivalent of 1% of the lump sum.
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s head office in Montréal

Winner’s reactions

  • Mr. Loranger-Demers’ mother was disappointed when she didn’t win anything with her Gagnant à vie! scratch ticket.
  • Convinced that he had luck on his side, her son decided to buy himself not one, but three Gagnant à vie! tickets the next day.
  • He uncovered three VIE symbols on his second card.
  • He immediately told his parents of his good fortune.
  • The youngest winner for life obviously chose the lifetime annuity of $1,000 a week as opposed to the $675,000 lump sum.

Quote

  • “I am going to win the lottery,” exclaimed Mr. Loranger-Demers when he saw his mother throwing away a non-winning Gagnant à vie! ticket.
