Montréal, June 14, 2017 – Wishing to contribute to the development of cultural and artistic offerings in La Malbaie, Loto‑Québec will bequeath a public work of art to the community. Today, the Corporation, in partnership with the Casino de Charlevoix and Ville de La Malbaie, is issuing a call for proposals for the design of a work of art that will be installed downtown.

Call for proposals

• Artists and collectives who are linked to the Charlevoix tourism region may go to this link for information and terms to obtain the specification document.
• The work of art will be installed on Saint‑Étienne church grounds.
• Proposals must be submitted by August 31, 2017.
• The project, specially developed with the community in mind, follows a consultation process orchestrated by Loto‑Québec in cooperation with Ville de La Malbaie.
• The Musée d’art contemporain de Baie‑Saint‑Paul was given the mandate to manage the call for proposals process.

Development of artisitic offerings at the Casino de Charlevoix

• Loto‑Québec has created an artistic adventure at the Casino de Charlevoix. The project, which extends to the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, enhances customer experience.
• The works were selected by curator Patricia Aubé, conservator at the Musée d’art contemporain de Baie‑Saint‑Paul.
• The artistic adventure presents works from the Collection Loto‑Québec, some of which were produced by such Charlevoix artists as René Richard, Claude Le Sauteur, Jimmy Perron, Stella Sasseville, Louis Tremblay and Gérard Thériault.

About the Collection Loto‑Québec

One of Québec’s largest corporate collections, the Collection Loto‑Québec brings together almost 5,000 works created by over 1,200 artists. Since its creation in 1979, the Collection has showcased the work of local artists Since 2012, Loto‑Québec has developed five public cultural projects that combine art, environment and community, in Saint‑Jérôme, Rouyn‑Noranda, Jonquière, Saint‑Jovite and Sherbrooke.
