RecordRecord month for lotteries: Already 39 new millionaires in Québec since the start of the year!

Montréal, February 3, 2017 – Lady Luck has been especially generous to Quebecers this past January. A total of 14 prizes worth $1 million or more have already been claimed and 39 new millionaires are sitting pretty! These are 30-day records, in both cases, in the history of Loto-Québec.

The year started strong on January 6, when a $60 million jackpot—the largest in Loto-Québec’s history—was won with a Lotto Max ticket purchased by 28 members of the same family, residents of Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec.

January 21 was a special evening in the Outaouais region, as, in the same draw, the Lotto 6/49 $25 million jackpot and $1 million guaranteed prize were won with tickets purchased in Gatineau. Four siblings living in the Outaouais, Montréal and Laurentides regions shared the jackpot, while a young couple, also from the Outaouais region, took home the million.

Célébration 2017, Extra and a Méga $$$$ scratch ticket also produced Québec millionaires in January. That’s not counting the three persons who discovered three “VIE” words on their Gagnant à vie! tickets at the start of the year, and a Laval resident who will be $25,000 richer every year thanks to the lifetime annuity awarded by the new Canada-wide Grande Vie lottery.

Quote
“In 2016, Loto-Québec paid out a record 104 prizes worth $1 million or more. We are pleased to see that Quebecers’ luck is continuing in 2017, and hope that the streak will hold throughout the year,” said Richard Trudel, Director, Customer Services and Draws.
