Lotto 6/49$7,000,000: A Montérégie family shares the jackpot

Montréal, June 28, 2016 – Montérégie couple Claude Aubin and Michelle Fontaine Aubin won the $7,000,000 grand prize at the June 25 Lotto 6/49 draw. They decided to share their luck with their son Pierre Aubin, a Laurentides resident.

In brief
• Lottery: Lotto 6/49
• Prize won: $7,000,000
• Draw date: June 25, 2016
• Winner’s place of residence: Montérégie and Laurentides
• Retailer: Metro (65 Rue Principale, Granby)
• The retailer will receive a 1% prize of $70,000.
• Claim centre: Loto-Québec headquarters, Montréal

Winners’ reactions
• For 25 years, Mr. Aubin has been playing the same birthday numbers at the lottery.
• Since he knows his combination by heart, he instantly knew he had won when he saw the results on his tablet.
• Very calmly, he announced to his spouse: “We won!”
• The lucky couple then called their son to tell him he would receive a share in the winnings.
• When he received his cheque, the winner was surprised that he was able to keep his usual calm, even though he spent the night tossing and turning.

Quote
• “My father always knew he would win the lottery. It was a running joke; every time we gave him a ticket, we would say, ‘Here’s your winning ticket!’”
