Gagnant à vie!$675,000 - A Montrealer’s oversight pays off

Montréal, July 28, 2016 – If he hadn’t forgotten his transit pass, Mr. Loganathan Ratnam from Montréal would not have tried his luck with Gagnant à vie! that day. He won the grand prize and opted for the lump sum of $675,000.

In brief
• Lottery: Gagnant à vie!
• Prize won: $675,000
• Claim date: July 18, 2016
• Winner’s place of residence: Montréal
• Retailer: Marché Luang Prabang (8915 Boulevard Pie-IX, Montréal)
• The retailer will receive a 1% prize of $6,750, corresponding to 1% of the lump sum.
• Claim centre: Loto-Québec head office, Montréal

Winner’s reactions
• When Mr. Ratnam left work to go home, he realized he had forgotten his transit pass and went back to get it. He purchased a scratch ticket to amuse himself during the twenty minutes until the next bus was scheduled to pass.
• He scratched three “VIE” symbols in the second game. Suddenly, he was in a great hurry to get home to share the happy news with his spouse, who has never enjoyed playing the lottery. She just may change her mind!
• Mr. Ratnam first stopped by his neighbour’s house, a close friend, to confirm he had indeed won the grand prize. Then he called his son.
• With his winnings, he plans to take a trip to Sri Lanka to visit his father.
