Winner’s reactions
• A volunteer firefighter in his Nunavik village, the winner has been taking training in Gatineau for the past several years. Recognized for his great generosity, he wishes to give back to his community by learning firefighting and all the tasks related to that work.
• Skeptical of having been so lucky, Michael Snowboy had no reaction when he was told he was a millionaire. To be sure there was no mistake, he showed his ticket to his trainer and long-time friend Jim Hancock, who confirmed the happy news and helped Michael claim his prize before returning home.
• Messrs. Snowboy and Hancock arrived late for the training session, where 14 trainees were waiting. The trainer entered the room alone, saying: “Sorry for the delay. Something has happened to our friend Michael.” At first, the class thought there was bad news. After a moment of stunned silence on learning that he was now a millionaire, everyone burst out laughing and congratulated Michael when he stepped in the room.
• The winner had not taken any vacation in the past 20 years. In a few weeks, he plans to bring his wife on a little getaway to experience big city life.
