Collection Loto-QuébecLoto-Québec offers a major artistic legacy by René Derouin to Mont-Tremblant

Montréal, August 16, 2016 – On Thursday, a unique project from Collection Loto-Québec, created and designed in partnership with René Derouin, the MU organization and Ville de Mont-Tremblant, was announced. By means of its collection, Loto-Québec will be giving the community a mural to be featured on the rotunda of Bibliothèque Samuel-Ouimet, created by the artist and produced by MU. It will be unveiled during the Journées de la culture 2016 festivities.

Mr. Derouin is a renowned artist in the Laurentians. Collection Loto-Québec counts 48 works of his, including a series ordered specifically for Casino de Mont-Tremblant. Using its collection, Loto-Québec would like to highlight his career and exceptional creative talent with this legacy.

What they said
“Loto-Québec continues to support the creative field with its innovative, sustainable projects developed in conjunction with the industry. Derouin's work of art will be integrated to the architecture and environment, and will be accessible to all. This project is a concrete example of the added value of Collection Loto-Québec,” said Simon Robert, Director of Social Responsibility at Loto-Québec.

“The mural Univers d’oiseaux, la volière de Mont-Tremblant is an important focal piece, speaking to my social concerns as well as my concerns for the protection of our natural habitat. Painted onto the rotunda of the municipal library, it represents a cultural spot in the heart of the city,” said René Derouin.

“It is a huge honour and a great gift that Loto-Québec is giving us. And René Derouin, this world renowned artist from the Laurentians, has roots here—his grand-mother was from Saint-Jovite. This work of art will be featured on the rotunda of Bibliothèque Samuel-Ouimet. It is a major acquisition for our public art circuit, and it will further highlight culture in Mont-Tremblant,” said Luc Brisebois, mayor of Ville de Mont-Tremblant.
